Our customers love Sweeper Paul for his strength, punctuality, and friendliness. But what many don’t know, is that beyond Sweeps, Paul is a guy with a lot of unique pastimes. When he’s not working towards an Associate of Arts degree at Durham Tech, Paul is probably volunteering at Panic Point, a haunted theme park, or participating in research studies.

Down the road, he wants to become an actor for television and film. And he hopes that all the while, he’ll gain the exposure to spread World Relief Durham’s message.

As a former volunteer with the organization, Paul chose World Relief Durham as the recipient of Sweeps’s $15 Spotlight donation this week.

The organization works with local churches to help extend support and hospitality for refugees in the Triangle, starting with their pre-arrival needs and continuing through community integration and development. Since controversies about refugee policy have recently sparked nationwide, World Relief Durham has become a prominent local advocate for refugees.

“We aim to share Jesus’s good news by caring for newly arrived refugees (the strangers that Jesus speaks of in Matthew 25) through the service and action of providing them with stability and eventually, self-sufficiency,” the organization says on its website.

Paul volunteered with the organization to help create a “seamless transition” for refugees moving to North Carolina, he told Sweeps.

And it seems his love for helping people move carried over into his work for Sweeps. “I signed up with Sweeps to help others at moving their belongings,” he said. “I enjoy sweeps because it can bring individuals together who might have never met otherwise.”
