Data entry can be long and tedious work — but it doesn’t have to be.

Check out these 5 tips from Sweeps on how to speed up your next data entry project.

1. Press Tab to move right.
If you want to move across a row, press Tab instead of Enter. Your active cell will now be to the right one space. To move down in columns, press Enter.

2. Enter values into multiple cells.
To enter data into multiple cells, select all the cells first. Then, type the value, and press CTRL (⌘ on Mac) + ENTER. This will overwrite any previous values in the cells and fill it with your new one.

Press CTRL + Enter. Voila!

3. Fill from above.
Use CTRL + D to fill down values from above. Just select the value below the cell you want to copy and press CTRL + D.

4. Enter repetitive data from a drop-down menu.
Are you entering the same 5 or 10 values in the cells in one column? If so, press ALT +  ↓ (down arrow) to choose values from a drop-down menu.

5. Jump to the end of a long spreadsheet.
If your spreadsheet is really long or wide, press CTRL + any arrow key to jump to that end of the sheet. CTRL + ↓ will take you to the bottom, CTRL + → will take you to the right edge of the sheet, etc.
